Summary: |
Pesticides are used in order to improve crop yield by preventing, killing, or controlling pests that can cause damage during production and marketing of agricultural crop. However, pesticides can cause severe and even long-term effects for users and those who do not intentionally consume it. To date, measurement of pesticide residues in vegetables requires testing in chemical laboratories that take time and damage the vegetables. Pesticide Detector (PESTOR) is a portable device that uses an Android smartphone as a detection result display. PESTOR is designed to measure the concentration of pesticide residues in vegetables with the principle of light reflection response with specific wavelengths quicky and non-destructively so that vegetables can be sold in market and supermarket without reducing accuracy. However, PESTOR is still in the early research phase where the goal is to determine the optimal wavelength and distance for detection and also the correlation between pesticides residue concentration to the photodiode voltage of the device. This document describes design, implementation, and testing of Android software and application that are easy to use and capable of displaying the detection and condition of the device’s battery using Bluetooth communication.
|
