In doing business in <br /> <br /> VUCA era, the company needs to apply safety inventory policy. Safety inventory is inventory <br /> <br /> policy that aimed to satisfy the demand of the customer meanwhile the demand itself is uncertain. <br /> <br /> Inventory policy needs to be designed and manage to eliminate as much as possible the <br /> <br /> uncertainty and the risk and dealing effectively with the uncertainty and the risk that remain. In <br /> <br /> Europe, healthcare organization spends 10% to 18% of their revenue on inventory, while in the <br /> <br /> United States of America, healthcare organization spends 40% to 45% of their income on supply. <br /> <br /> The Medicines inventory management is the heart of the medicines supply chain. Appropriate <br /> <br /> inventory management is needed by the healthcare organization to operate effectively in the <br /> <br /> VUCA era. <br /> <br /> Continuous review policy, which inventory is reviewed continuously is most appropriate when <br /> <br /> the inventory can be evaluated continuously and placed an order quickly. This policy usually <br /> <br /> needs computerized inventory system to be implemented appropriately. In the condition of <br /> <br /> impossible or inconvenient to frequently review the inventory and place an order, the most <br /> <br /> appropriate method is periodic review policy. For Zainab Mother and Child Hospital business <br /> <br /> situation, the inventory model is the multiple order opportunities and the suitable model is the <br /> <br /> continuous review policy. Because Zainab Mother and Child Hospital already use Hospital <br /> <br /> Information System (HIS) to help the hospital operation. Therefore, monitoring the medicine <br /> <br /> inventory on a daily basis is not inconvenient. Medicine ordering mechanism also is done <br /> <br /> effortlessly, the ordering could be done within 1 hour. <br /> <br /> Based on the analysis result, the implementation of continuous review inventory policy in Zainab <br /> <br /> Mother and Child Hospital could reduce the total purchasing budget, total last inventory stock, <br /> <br /> and total average inventory as much as 54%, 45%, and 25% respectively. The hospital could use <br /> <br /> the extra budget that comes from the saving for expanding their business. text |
