As a car-free based concept, FPM can also be a solution for a set of problems caused by the increasing motorized vehicle ownership which also happens in Indonesia like traffic congestion, air and sound pollutions, etc. Despite all the positive impacts, implementation of FPM tends to fail in most cases, so assessing the project to prove its feasibility before implementation is essential to prevent failures. Even though Cimahi City Government does not have a plan to implement a pedestrian-oriented project at its downtown district, The Alun-alun district of Cimahi City has the characteristics which potentially applied by FPM by having compact land uses, public transportation nodes, low capacity roads, and city-renowed business district. To actually prove that potential, the objective of this study is to formulate a technical feasibility study of FPM implementation at Alun-alun District of Cimahi City. The study will be based on a set of criteria formulated from the theory of pedestrian mall itself and previous studies focused on evaluating the success and failure of FPM. The criteria related to technical aspect is accessibility, festivity, amenity, and coverage. By comparing the existing and the predicted conditions of the district to those three criteria, the assessment concludes that FPM implementation is not technically feasible.
