Description
Summary:Lake Cisanti which is located at the foot of Mount Wayang is part of the upper reaches of the Citarum watershed. Lake Cisanti holds a very important role in the overall protection function of the watershed, specifically in the water management function. Information about changes in land use around the Cisanti area, and its relationship to the ability of the area to absorb water is needed to (1) map land use changes that occur in the area around Lake Cisanti between 2013 and 2018; and (2) map changes in land capacity to absorb water in the area around Lake Cisanti between 2013 and 2018. Mapping changes of land use was done using digitization method with the following classification: forest, shrub, agriculture, plantation, and water body. Aerial photographs of the area between 2013 and 2018 taken from Google Earth were used as data for mapping land use changes. The water absorbing capabilities of the area can be determined through the Conservation Index coefficient. Parameters used for Conservation Index calculation include land use, soil texture, and slope level. Loam soil texture dominates the area with Clay Loam also available in several parts. Slope level is obtained by changing the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data into slope data. Slope levels in the study area is classified into four criteria, namely level (0-0.5%), gentle slope (0.5-5%), moderate slope (5-10%), and steep slope (10-100%). Land use changes that occurred between 2013 and 2018 were as follows: 0.29 hectares of forest changed into agriculture, 0.12 hectares of agriculture changed into forests, 0.06 hectares of shrubs changed into agriculture, and the biggest among them, 20.76 hectares of bushes changed into forest. Conservation Index calculation result suggests a relatively constant value with a slight increase, which is 0.68 in 2013 and 0.69 in 2018.
