Description
Summary:CO2 injection is one of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method that is proven to increase the oil recovery significantly, when properly designed. Besides being able to increase the production, CO2 injection is also good for the environment. Commonly, the CO2 sources are organized into three categories such as natural sources, natural gas processing, and industrial processing. Unfortunately, the CO2 sources are rarely pure, which contain the impurities that can affect the Minimum Miscibility Pressure (MMP) value.

MMP is one of the design key parameter of CO2 mechanism that can be affected by the reservoir temperature and composition of oil and injected gas. The industry standard method to calculate MMP value is slim-tube experiment (Elsharkawy, 1992). Slim-tube experiment is very costly and time-consuming method. 1-D slim-tube simulation, which provide cheap and fast alternative to slim-tube experiment, were developed and performed using CO2 mixtures with CH4, N2, and H2S on different temperature to show the effects of impurities in resulting MMP value. It was found that the value of MMP increase as the temperature rise and CH4 and N2 impurities can raise the MMP, and H2S can reduce the MMP value as the increase of impurities mole percentage.
