Summary: | <p align="justify">It is often found that the function of street corridors are differentiated along with the development of activities surrounding them, where even its function as a public space is often removed. Inaccurate management gives rise to problems and conflicts in the use of street corridors’ space. The same can be said regarding Siliwangi Street corridor, Kuningan Regency, as the main corridor on Kuningan’s Uptown Region, the insufficient public space and development of activity and traffic’s intensity cause physical and special problem. A comprehensive and user-friendly design principle is required, in order to maintain the usage of the corridor and the activities in it. This research intends to formulate a design principle for Siliwangi Street corridor, Kuningan Regency, in order to optimize the usage of the street corridor and the region’s commercial function by paying attention to the need of visitors and traders. In the designing of Siliwangi Street corridor, managements of road space, pedestrian space, and building space, as well as a premise that can be accessed by the public are required. Design principle elaborates a management method for each of the components, which are based on the comfortness, accessibility, safety, security, and beauty, as well as a consideration on the needs of visitors and traders. The design of Siliwangi Street corridor is aimed towards the construction of a corridor that is accommodative towards the needs of visitors and traders, as well as supportive towards the various activities in said corridor, through the provision of public facility, increase of accessibility, along with the increase of corridor space quality.<p align="justify"> |
