The “MRM” field development activities require a variety of geophysical methods to solve problems and reduce failures. One of the methods is seismic inversion. In seismic inversion, it’s possible to describe physical property for each layer. <br /> <br /> Identification of procpect area is using three types of acoustic impedance inversion with 3D post stack seismic data. Bandlimited inversion method is good to see the boundaries of each layers whereas the model based and sparse spike inversion have more detailed result than bandlimited. Therefore, the process of frequency domain merge between model based inversion and sparse spike inversion with the aim of generating inversion volume is propotionally balanced between log data and seismic data. <br /> <br /> From the result of acoustic impedance inversion, it’s can be seen the distribution of platform carbonate with high impedance value and compact litology. The impedance value above the platorm carbonate tends to be lower, this is because the lithology is softer reef carbonate and also the influence of gas hydrocarbons that fills the lithology. Low acoustic impedance values is located in the south of eastern “MRM” field reef build up structure. So the gas is located dominat in the south of eastern “MRM” field reef build up structure based on low acoustic impedance values in the area. text
