Summary: |
Urban Heat Island occurs when urban areas have higher temperatures than its surrounding area. High industrial activities and heavy usage of motor vehicles that are not offset by the availability of adequate sideroad greeneries are some of the reasons for the increase of air temperature in that area. Therefore, more information about air temperature in sideroad greenery is required to observe Urban Heat Island. The method of using spatial data of TOA (Top of Atmosphere) from LANDSAT 8 effectively provides information about air temperature on the surface of the earth. This study aims to determine hotspots at sideroad greenery based on mapping using TOA from LANDSAT 8. This is done to redesign hotspots in sideroad greenery, which could further decrease the effect of Urban Heat Island. The study was conducted in Tegalega Sub Area of Bandung City by mapping the air temperature using TOA data from LANDSAT 8. Temperature data was also taken at sample points in five roads that have been determined: Soekarno Hatta; Moch. Toha; Kopo; Terusan Pasirkoja and Peta. The data was taken during the same time for 14 days. Temperature data from the field was then compared with temperature data from the mapping result of spatial data. The result of air temperature mapping in Tegalega Sub Area ranged from 29.9 -34.9 ºC. When compared with temperature from the field, there is an average difference of 0.266 ºC. After correction is applied, the result of air temperature mapping in Tegalega Sub Area ranged from 30.2 – 35.2 ºC. Based on the mapping result, seven hotspots are obtained, with air temperature above 34.5 ºC. This was located on Terusan Pasirkoja Road (1 spot), Soekarno Hatta Road (2 spots), Moch Toha (1 spot), and Kopo Road (3 spots).
|
