Summary: |
The purpose of this research is to make a design of smart micro grid system based on renewable energy which can supply electricity of ice maker machine for fishermen's needed, especially in a remote area which has unsustainable of electricity and limitation in fuel provision. Smart micro grid system which is developed in this research is a hybrid system based on PV and a biobased diesel engine which uses biofuel from straight vegetable oil or biomass gasification from local plantation or biowaste.

This research is designed and implemented in Karimunjawa district, Jepara regency, Central Java. So that the simulation does based on data from this location. The design and implementation process of this research are done by literature study, direct survey and simulation use HOMER software. The result shows that smart micro grid system based on PV and biobased diesel engine with coconut oil as biofuel can implement to supply ice maker machine in Karimunjawa compares to the other scenarios.

The simulation result shows that all of the scenarios are feasible to implement from an economic side with the highest NPV and IRR value reaches by PV-Diesel scenario (NPV is IDR 296,240,000 and IRR is 36.73%). But, due to the consideration of sustainability of fuel provision and carbon emission reduction, so that PV-Biobased 1 (using coconut oil) is chosen as the scenario that wants to be implemented.

Design of smart micro grid system consists of PV 5kWp, biobased diesel engine generator 3kW, bi-directional inverter 5kW and battery 100Ah/12V 16 pcs. This configuration is chosen due to the consideration of fuel substitution from coconut oil to nyamplung oil in the future. This substitution is needed because coconut oil is a food matter, so in the future is possible to give a conflict of interest. This condition will boost the requirement of fuel substitution with a non-edible plant. And nyamplung is one of a non-edible plant that has a big potency to develop as biofuel.

The evaluation result of smart micro grid system which has been implemented in Kemojan village, Karimunjawa can be concluded that smart micro grid system can supply electricity for ice maker machine smoothly. In sunny weather, the system can be supplied by the battery which is charged by PV. But, at cloudy or rainy weather or at night and battery SOC reaches 50%, the system will command biobased diesel engine to supply electricity automatically until battery SOC reaches 100%.

The evaluation result also shows the inverter efficiency when battery supply electricity to the load is around 78%, while when diesel engine generator supply electricity to the load is around 98%. This differentiation due to the current conversion from DC to AC when the battery supply the load, but when diesel generator supply the load the current conversion is not happening. PV has the main role as a battery charger, while diesel engine generator has the main role as load handler.
|
