Summary: | Gunung Sewu UNESCO Global Geopark (UGG) will be reassessed by UNESCO
based on the criteria geopark set by UNESCO in 2019. This research was
conducted to evaluate one of the components of geopark UGG Gunung Sewu,
namely Gunung Api Purba Nglanggeran Geosite located in Nglanggeran, Patuk,
Gunungkidul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, from geotourism point of view and
some criteria of geopark that established by UNESCO. This research is also
conducted to present some recommendation of new geotourism object for Gunung
Sewu UGG development especially in Gunungkidul, Daerah Istimewa
Yogyakarta.
The research method used in this research are divided into two, the method of
geological field observation and geotourism questionnaire method on Geosite
Gunung Api Purba Nglanggeran. Geological field observation method consists of
geomorphology observation, geological structure observation, and lithologies
observation in research area. Geotourism questionnaire method consists of
questions and assessment of Geosite Gunung Api Purba Nglanggeran based on
criteria geopark established by UNESCO with questionnaires respondents from
geosite tourists and residents around the geosite of Gunung Api Purba
Nglanggeran. Geotourism objects Recommendation obtained from further
analysis of field observation methods.
Based on that above methods, the research area is divided into four
geomorphology units, namely Nglanggeran Homoclinal Ridge, Sambipitu
Denudational Plain,Wonosari Hills of Karst, and Oyo Flood Plain. The units of
lithologies in the research area are divided into four, namely Tuff-Sandstone Unit,
Piroclastic Breccia Unit, Sandstone-Claystone Unit and Limestone Unit. The
geological structure that developed in the research area are Ngalang Strike-Slip
Left-Lateral Fault, the Bunder Strike-Slip Left-Lateral Fault, and the Beji Strike-
Slip Left-Lateral Fault. From the results of questionnaires analysis, Gunung Api
Purba Nglanggeran is still considered to preserve the criteria geopark set by
UNESCO. Based on the results of geological field observation analysis, some
recommendations of geotourism object are Air Terjun Kedung Kandang, Bukit
Kembang, Gunung Gentong, Kali Ngalang (hulu), and Batu Miring Oyo. |
