Summary:PT Saipem Indonesia is one of the companies that contributed in the oil and gas industry. In 2014, the oil and gas industry is facing a global crisis that threatens even the most stable organization, including PT Saipem Indonesia. The projects are decreasing since many of oil and gas companies closed down the company. This problem leads to the dropping of oil price. Most E&P companies have been forced to reduce their capital spend outlook in favor of reducing costs, including PT Saipem Indonesia. While the organization focuses on cost efficiency, employees may view this as a decrease in capital investment and may become less engaged. There are many programs and trainings have been cut in regards to the cost efficiency. While facing this issue, company has a goal to be achieved. This goal will only be achieved through employee productivity and performance. Human resource plays important role to this issue, especially leadership role. The role of leader is very crucial to keep all employees performance to be productive, as well maintaining their commitment to the organization. <br /> <br /> <br /> The main purpose of this study is to identify the impact of leadership toward employee work performance and to find the most impactful leadership dimensions (Authority, Trust, Communication and Decision Making) towards the employee work performance. Furthermore, the other objective of this study is to identify the level of leadership and work performance. Qualitative survey was used in this study and the triangulation technique was used to combine the both results of questionnaire and interview. A total of 92 employees from various positions and departments were selected randomly to participate in questionnaire survey (out of population 120 employees, based on Krejzie and Morgan table) and 65 questionnaires returned (response rate 70.6%), then questionnaire was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). For the interview survey, a total of 6 employees from managerial and subordinate level were selected. All the process of data collection was held in PT Saipem Indonesia Jakarta Office. <br /> <br /> <br /> Based on the results of simple regression analysis variable x to variable y, it is found that the variable leadership (X) significantly impact the to the work performance (Y) of PT Saipem Indonesia employees with coefficient of determination 32.2%. It is showed more specific by the interview results, which every employee have other motivation to trigger them to improve their working performance, personal reason such as family issue. Even their leaders have some issues with decision making, communication, and trust, employees have other motivation to perform their work very well, team work among employees also good, which they always supporting each other. To be conclude, in this study, leadership is not heavily impacted to employee work performance, but it is still has a significant impact. Based on research result, the solution has been made by using the 4 dimensions of leadership. The recommendation has been made to increase the leadership and work performance, such as increasing leader’s initiatives, training & rewarding program, knowledge and information management, maximizing performance management and increasing employee-leader collaboration. <br />
