This study aims to determine antiobesity activity from <br /> <br /> ethanol extract of lime peel. Antiobesity activity was studied in vivo in female Wistar rats that <br /> <br /> induced by high-carbohydrate diet. Animals were divided into five groups, there were normal <br /> <br /> group, control group, orlistat group at a dose of 21.6 mg/kg bw, extract of lime peel at doses of 150 <br /> <br /> mg/kg bw and 300 mg/kg bw groups. The whole group was induced by high-carbohydrate diet for <br /> <br /> 12 weeks, except normal group. Then the rats were treated based on their groups for 2 weeks and <br /> <br /> then the high-carbohydrate diet still given. The parameters which were observed included <br /> <br /> alteration of body weight, serum total cholesterol, level of triglyceride, HDL, LDL, and food index. <br /> <br /> The result showed that the alteration of body weight of 150 mg/kg bw extract group, 300 mg/kg <br /> <br /> bw extract group, and orlistat group were significantly different compared to the control group <br /> <br /> (p<0.05). Serum total cholesterol and LDL decreased significantly at 150 mg/kg bw extract group, <br /> <br /> 300 mg/kg bw extract group, and orlistat group. Food index was significantly different at 300 mg/kg <br /> <br /> bw extract group. Meanwhile level of triglyceride and HDL did not influenced by 150 mg/kg bw <br /> <br /> extract group, 300 mg/kg bw extract group, and orlistat group.
