Summary:
Gourmet Alley is an open air culinary arcade that is located in Dayang Sumbi Street, Lebak Siliwangi, Coblong, Bandung, West Java with a total project area of 4344 sqm. The owner of the project is

Bandung Tourism and Culture Office as a realisation of one of its mission which is stabilizing Bandung as a cultural city and tourism destination. Youngsters will be the main user target from the culinary arcade. The problem of the project is how to design the arcade while preventing it from giving a bad impact to the transportation circulation outside the project area, such as congestion. Other than that, the other problems are effort needed to conserve the atmosphere of sense and place in Bandung around 30’s which still remain in Dayang Sumbi Street, and how the arcade can accomodate informal interaction to happen, to connect both the city with its people and the people themselves. All the problems will be solved by the idea of concepts: “The Unlost Atmosphere”, “For The Local Community, To The Future Society”, and the design of basement parking. The final designed project will be consists of several masses which will form an arcade in the middle. The main material used will be: brick, concrete, wood, and stone to emphasize the Art Deco style that will be acculturated with the modern tropical architecture.
