Redesign of water distribution system in Cimahi City is done based on the existing condition evaluation and development of distribution network due to the increasing of clean water demand as the impact of population growth. So, it is expected that redesign can make Cimahi Water Treatment Plant able to serve more people so that service area coverage can be improved. In addition redesign is also expected to make the distribution system would be better viewed from the side of pressure, headloss, and velocity so that the leakage percentage can be reduced.. Areas that have obtained their water supply from PDAM Tirta Raharja are most of North Cimahi sub district, Central Cimahi sub district, and a small part of South Cimahi sub district. The number of home connections which are served by PDAM Tirta Raharja until January 2017 is 14,087. Cimahi Water Treatment Plant acquires its clean water from Cimahi River, deep wells, and springs. PDAM Tirta Raharja uses a branch pattern on its distribution system. In addition, PDAM Tirta Raharja uses gravity system because the total head in the reservoir is sufficient. PDAM Tirta Raharja has 2 types of distribution system which are lower system and upper system. Both systems are based on the reservoir elevation of each system. Both systems serve different areas. Based on the evaluation results, the pressure conditions for both systems still meet the standards. But the speed and headloss on both systems still do not meet the standards. Therefore, diameter alteration is done so that the velocity and headloss would meet the standard. Next stage is development of distribution system based on RTRW of Cimahi City. The expansion will be done in 7villaged of 2 sub-districts (Central Cimahi and South Cimahi Sub-districts) which are Melong, Utama, Cibeber, Leuwigajah, Baros, Padasuka, and Setiamanah. Utama Village and Melong Village are called D Sub City. While others are called E Sub City. Water demand for D Sub City until 2031 is 176,64 L/s and water requirement for E Sub City is 337.64 L/s. Based on development result, the existing distribution system has been unable to accommodate the development needs. Therefore, the existing pipe diameter is enlarged and 3 pieces of pump is added. Pumps are added to solve the negative pressure. This insufficient pressure causes some areas to be unaware of water during peak hours. Last, the existing reservoir is still able to hold the discharge for the existing and development area up to 2031. Therefore, the existing reservoir is not redesigned. text |
