The research area is 56 km2. This area is divided into five geomorphological units. Those units are Cipelang Alluvial Plain Unit, Sukarjaya Homocline Ridge Unit, Conggeang Fault and Fold Zone Unit, Tampomas Lahar Hills Unit, and Tampomas Parasite Volcano Unit. Stratigraphically, this area can be divided into eight non-formal rock units which were formed during Late Miocene-Recent epoch. From the oldest to the youngest, those units are Claystone Unit, Sandstone-Claystone Unit, Sandstone-Conglomerate Unit, Pyroclastic Breccia 1 Unit, Basalt Lava Unit, Pyroclastic Breccia 2 Unit, Tuff Unit, and Alluvial Unit. Geological structures found in the research area are thrust fault and anticline. The structures are estimated to be formed during Late Pliocene – Pleistocene epoch. The rock units which can act as aquifers in the research area are Sandstone-Claystone Unit, Sandstone-Conglomerate Unit, Pyroclastic Breccia 1

Unit, Pyroclastic Breccia 2 Unit, Tuff Unit, and Alluvial Unit. Sandstone-Claystone Unit and Sandstone-Conglomerate Unit are thought to be able to act as an aquifer for the area around the International Airport of Kertajati. The aquifers are classified as unconfined aquifers. The springs which are found in the research area are cold spring, as depression spring and contact spring. On the cold spring (4) and groundwater well (26), the pH ranges from 4.1 to 7.34 and the TDS ranges from 41.1 to 663 mg/l, which is classified as fresh water, and 1077–1300 mg/l, which is classified as brackish water. Based on PERMENKES

No.492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010, there are only nine locations with consumable water.
text |
