Summary:In the development of gas field which has entered mature period, to improve its gas production some artificial lift will be used. Differs with the artificial lift in oil well that has many types of artificial lift, gas well has limited artificial lift types that can be used. Common type of artificial lift used in gas well is compressor. One of gas fields in Kalimantan, Indonesia has already used compressor to improve its productions. The compressor which is applied in some of those gas wells is Wellhead Compressor (WGC). Application of WGC also has been evaluated and gave results that the rate of gas in those wells is increased (Sumaryanto, 2010). Other than WGC, type of compressor that recently invented is Downhole Gas Compression (DGC). DGC can be located at the bottom hole of well and then give advantage to DGC because it could lower the abandonment reservoir pressure (Di Tullio, 2009). This paper will discuss the comparison of both types of compressor through its Expected Ultimate Recovery (EUR) in study case of well X and Y that located in one of gas fields in Kalimantan. The study will be doing an IPR-VLP analysis and decline curve analysis using some commercial program and mathematical calculation. Based on analysis that had been done, it shows that DGC has bigger EUR than WGC. So that by this result, it can give a recommendation for development of mature gas field in Indonesia in the future.
