Description
Summary:As a form of settlement, the city's slum or kampung kota is an integral part of the city. As the city develops and develops planning, the cities currently store various problems and their unique potential. The view of the urban village as an urban problem, bringing solution which is only related to physical development is not attached to the location. Whereas many theories state that the choice of place of residence by slum dwellers is due to its location as an attempt to approach the workplace. But with such a high length of stay, the reason for choosing a place to live when making a move may not be relevant at this time. This gives the question "Is the location of the village at this time still provides benefits for the residents of the city village?". This can be seen by looking at the pattern of movement carried out by the residents of the urban village. By looking at the choice of place of residence as a process, the selection of this place of residence can be revisited through satisfaction with the current housing situation or briefly its desire to move. This research was conducted to see the impact of the village location on the choice of place of residence. This was done by comparing the patterns of movement carried out by the villagers and the factors of choosing other places of residence in the villagers' desire to move using quantitative association analysis. Most villagers expressed their desire to move. Based on the analysis carried out, the factors that influence the desire to move are the number of children, the number of family members above 60 years, income, from the socio-economic group and the number of members who move from the movement pattern group. But on the other hand, direct testimonials from residents stated that the main reason for wanting to move was the quality of housing. This proves that, the villagers of the city have had a consideration of the location but the quality of the dwelling often overshadows the need for movement in the selection of residential areas of the urban village residents.

Keywords: settlement, slum, kampung kota, residential choice, association analysis
