Surabaya is one of the biggest cities in Indonesia that continues to develop its public <br /> <br /> transportation service. Especially for the train service, it grows bigger each year as the number of <br /> <br /> people who use this kind of transportation service is increasing. Some of the largest railway stations <br /> <br /> in Surabaya have been included in the city’s development plans by The Government of Surabaya. <br /> <br /> Pasar Turi Railway Station is one of the railway stations that has been planned to be developed <br /> <br /> including the area around it. This railway station is going to be developed using Transit Oriented <br /> <br /> Development (TOD) concept. The main issues in this project are connectivity and accessibility, <br /> <br /> function integration, and heritage building conservation. In this railway station area, the supporting <br /> <br /> functions that will be provided is commercial area such as hotel and retails, also there will be an <br /> <br /> outdoor public space. This railway station is designed to accommodate around 34.000 person per <br /> <br /> year in 2025. <br /> <br /> The basic concept of this project design is called “A Lounge for The City” which makes the <br /> <br /> area of the station roled as a comprehensive transit point for people who live in Surabaya. This <br /> <br /> railway station not only act like a gate that welcomes people who arrive in Surabaya and <br /> <br /> accompanies people who are going to leave the city, but also accommodate other function like <br /> <br /> commercials to help people to fulfill their needs and support nearby area’s development.
