Summary: |
Urban Heat Island (UHI) is a phenomenon that affecting the behaviour of the citizen significantly. According to ‘Perda Jakarta No. 1 tahun 2014’, the Ancol’s Bay area itself would developed a new downtown area. The new development existence would increase the Urban Heat Island effects that decreasing the outdoor macroclimate quality, if the design and planning is not response to the local climate.

The strategy to mitigate those problems is organize the building form and mass, and vegetation that helps the urban ventilation, and tcreate shade and give the cooling effect on outdoor space. The simulation result show the existence of vegetation and shades could reduce the air temperature and the mean radiant temperature. The presence of wind could reduce the air temperature and relative humidity in the area. Designing urban areas through the arrangement of building massing and vegetation (urban geometry) could optimize the air movement and increase the shades which improves the thermal quality which is showed by the value of PMV (Predicted Mean Vote).
