One of the technology radar used for objects on earth is called ground penetrating radar (GPR). Waveform that is transmitted by radar can be short pulses or continuous waves. Radar with short pulses usually requires much higher power than continuous waves radar. The speed of sampling required by short pulse radar must also be very fast. To solve this problem it can be used radar with continuous waves. One of the continuous waves radars is the GPR with stepped frequency continuous wave (SFCW). Research on GPR has been widely investigated, but the results have considerable dimensions hence the used can only be done in certain places. In this research, the design and realization of wideband portable GPR is performed based on SFCW with frequency 1600-2500MHz. The step signal generated using ATMega328 microcontroller. The radar was performed using one object with the level of depth 0.20m, 0.40m, and 0.60m. With two objects, the depth of two objects are 0.30m and 0.60m, 0.40m and 0.60m. Results obtained from the test of one object that is 0.204m, 0.400m, and 0.601m. The experimental results obtained using two objects are 0.332m and 0.626m, 0.410m and 0.630m. <p align="justify"> text
