Summary: |
This contemporary art museum project is a response to the growth of contemporary art and the people's interest to it in Indonesia, especially Jakarta. This 13.300 m2 museum exhibits the art collections of Haryanto Adikoesomo, an art collector, with the purpose of educating people about contemporary art. The project is designed based on 3 main issues. The first is the building's image, where the museum has to be able to represent the dynamic of contemporary art. Second is experience, which is achieved by sequencing and the circulation inside the building. Sequencing plays an important role in the museum as it is the media to deliver the experience to the visitors. The last is flexibility. The art museum is highly needed to be flexible to the wide-ranging types and sizes of the artworks. The design process begins with the concept of "The Dynamic Flow of Contemporary Dance", which then translated into form and space, resulting as a dynamic and iconic building. The circulations, is designed to be flowing like the flows of a dancer, so that the visitor could get a flowing experience and connected to every function the museum held. The spaces, both indoor and outdoor, are designed to be a spacious rooms that could be as flexible as it could to accomodate all kinds of activity.
|
