Summary: | The application of computer and information technology development, including virtual reality technology, has not been explored by construction industry especially by precast concrete construction in Indonesia. This thesis analyzes results of research and development of the computer application system for design of the precast concrete construction. The system uses virtual reality technology which is integrated with a database system into an aplication system called PC-VDAS (Precast Concrete - Visual Design Analysis System). <br />
PC-VDAS application system functions to help designer in precast concrete construction design, especially for visualization in basic design phase, starting from choosing of structural and connection system, determining elements dimension and unit price of material, connection and labors, to obtaining an estimation of overall construction cost and duration. All required data for this design process was stored in database. This system application may also be used to visualize construction process, especially in erection and installation phase of precast concrete. Visualization of construction process can be visualized by means of animation and also in simulation method. User may exercise the construction process as passively based on a predefined scenario, or as actively where user could actively control the erection and installation of precast concrete using computer keyboard buttons. |
