The plastic material used in household products is considered recyclable plastic (thermoplastic). Recycle constitutes is one of the effective ways in waste management for reduce the plastic waste in Bandung City. The goal of this research is to examine the process of recycling plastic waste carried out the informal sector and their potential pollution to the environment. This research was done by secondary data studies and preliminary survey thourgh out observation, interview, and questionnaire. Plastic waste reduction takes down from informal sectore role that consisting of scavenger, individual dealers, small dealers, medium dealers and big dealers. Stages of the process started from the collection based on the type of plastic, plastic sorting, shredding and cleaning plastic, drying, as well as productions of resins or pellets. Based on calculations, there are known differences in weight percent before and after shredding process. The difference of weight percent was 10%. The process of recycling plastic wastes resulting residues are liquid waste and deposits flakes (5.600 liter/day of liquid waste and 28 ton/day deposition). This residues were potentially generate pollution to the environment because either simply dumped into drainage channels. There needs of waste management produced to this recycling process more environmentally sound<p align="justify"> text |
