READINESS STUDY OF INSTITUTION OF STAKEHOLDERS OF BANDUNG CITY IN EARTHQUAKE DISASTER MANAGEMENT

<p aling = 'justify'>One of the threats confronted by the city of Bandung as one of Indonesia’s biggest city and the capital of the province of Jawa Barat is the risk of earthquake. According to the study initiated by the RADIUS project of 1999, the city of Bandung has an earthquake intensity potential of 8 to 9,25 MMI scale. Despite this, the city of Bandung has never experienced any destructive earthquake, resulting in the capacity of the city of Bandung by means of the stakeholders being called into doubt. Therefore, this study aims to measure the capacity of the city of Bandung against earthquakes by the means of the stakeholders related to the risk of earthquake. <br /> <br /> This study measures the capacity of stakeholders in the city of Bandung related to the risk of earthquake through the criteria of capacity against earthquakes. The criteria is taken from the action plan made from the year 1999 by the RADIUS project as the only earthquake management plan for the scope of the city of Bandung. Based on those criteria, a scoring analysis was done to measure the capacity through the actions taken by the stakeholders related to the earthquake risk to increase the capacity of the city of Bandung against the risk of earthquake. Through the scoring analysis, it is known that the most of stakeholders related to the risk of earthquake in the city of Bandung has not taken any action for increasing the capacity of the city against earthquake or has taken the action in the scope of general disaster management, which is not specifically related to the risk of earthquake. Afterwards, a gap analysis was done using the gap between the current action taken by the stakeholders related to the risk of earthquake and the ideal condition to frame the recommendations which are required to increase the capacity of the city of Bandung against earthquakes.
