Summary: | Coal is one of non-renewable energy sources that used continuously for human need. Indonesian coal deposit dominated by coal with low till medium calories .Therefore the use of coal needs to be considered, so it can give maximum benefit. In this research be carried out an analysis of the reflectance of a coal petrography. This research measure the value of maximum and random reflectance of vitrinite group maceral. This two value will be correlated with the anisotropy on coal .The analysis was conducted using the polarizing microscopes with certain conditions. Analysis random and maximum vitrinite reflectance show positive correlation with coal rank .The difference value of maximum and random vitrinite show the positive correlation with the coal rank. This results show that when the rank is high the value of coal anisotropy will be increase. Such a condition occurred because the higher coal rank only form with higher degree of metamorphism process. This degree of metamorphism cause the difference value in coal vertical axis. It compress the vertical axis of coal and cause the higher anisotropy. |
