Description
Summary:Surfactant flooding is one of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method by injecting the surfactant into the oil reservoir. Surfactants that are injected into the reservoir can interact with fluids and rocks in the reservoir which has an effect on increasing oil recovery. One mechanism of increasing oil recovery due to surfactant injection which is most dominant is to reduce oil viscosity due to the interaction of surfactant with oil which can increase sweeping efficiency and reduce the saturation of residual oil in the reservoir. In addition to these mechanisms, there are several effects due to surfactant injection, including the effects of wettability alteration, and

interfacial tension reduction. Related to this, laboratory studies were conducted to test the mechanism and strategies for increasing oil recovery due to surfactant injection on porous media before field implementation. One of the important laboratory tests carried out in the design of surfactant flooding is the coreflood test.

Through the study of the mechanism and injection strategy of Surfactant-D for the

recovery of heavy oil and light oil in sandstone reservoir, it is expected to provide

an optimum injection skenario design before the implementation of field scale

injection. In addition, this paper also discusses in detail about the 11 skenarios of

surfactant injection mechanisms which can be taken into consideration for

surfactant injection applications in the reservoir. Skenarios 1 and 2 were conducted

to observe the implementation of surfactant injection for heavy oil and light oil in

the field, then skenarios 3.to 5 were carried out to observe the effect of increasing

the injection rate on light oil and then skenarios 6 to 11 were carried out to evaluate

the mechanism and strategy of Lekschem-D injection in heavy oil. Based on this

study, it was concluded that the soaking time, injection rate mechanism and

concentration mechanism is important in providing an increase in oil recovery with

a note that Lekschem-D enters the porous media optimally.
