Summary:This research will discuss about the application of insert string to restore the production in one of the Pertamina Hulu Energi ONWJ’s well, X-7 well. This well has been produced since 1996. But, now this well is not producing. This well was produced using continuous gas lift. The problem that happens at X-7 well is the depth of gas lift injection point which is very narrow. This well has multilayer reservoir and was produced using commingle completion. So, along with the decreasing of reservoir pressure that is followed by decreasing of fluid static level, has caused the well stop flowing because the fluid static level is below of gas lift injection point. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> One of the methods that can be applied to restore the production of X-7 well because the fluid static level is below from gas lift injection point is by installing insert string. Insert string is a smaller tubing that will be installed inside of production tubing. By installing insert string, it can deepen the injection point. The deeper injection point has function to improve lifting efficiency of gas lift. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Literature study was conducted to understand this topic further. Then, the author did field study to obtain the data needed. The analysis was done by conducting literature study. This paper would discuss: history matching to obtain the match flow correlation, comparison between before and after installation of insert string scenario, and sensitivity analysis. The sensitivity analysis was conducted by simulating the change of insert string diameter size and injection gas rate. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> From the simulation result, the insert string could restore the production of a dead well. From sensitivity analysis, in order to obtain the optimum result, the diameter size could be enlarged. Besides that, the gas lift <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> performance curve has to be generated in order to determine the optimum injection gas rate. The benefit of installing insert string is the cost. It costs cheap because it doesn’t need doing well workover.
