Surfactant increased oil recovery by reducing interfacial tension of oil so that oil tend to form miscible mixture that can be pushed from the pore. Surfactant flooding is known good for oil wet reservoir and mature fields that have been past its peak performance and oil saturation is reaching residual oil saturation. However, high risk, uncertainties and failure in several cases in surfactant flooding project. resulted in a few cases where surfactant used as oil recovery mechanism. Many studies with variation of production scheme, combination of vertical and horizontal well as producer and injector and flooding pattern have been developed to get information what combination result in optimum production and high recovery. Surfactant flooding simulation using simulator was studied in this paper. Four spot pattern, thick reservoir, one well vertical producer, three vertical water injectors and three up to six horizontal surfactant injectors was used in this study. Reservoir model was conditioned to be a mature field which has past water flooding scheme and peak production. Surfactant flooding was started after water injection reached its economic limit. Several parameter such as number of injector, reservoir thickness, permeability and surfactant concentration were varied in purpose to see the effect of every parameter to surfactant performance. It is showed that recovery factor could not reach one hundred percent because of the effect of every parameter mentioned before.

Keywords: sufactant, horizontal surfactant flooding, thickness, recovery factor text
