Nowadays, the source of clean water become very important due to the number of clean water needs that continue to increase along with the rapid population growth. Surakarta city, as one of the big cities in Central Java has one regional water company to serve the drinking water and clean water to the local people namely PDAM Tirta Dharma. PDAM Tirta Dharma has one Water Treatment Plant (WTP) called IPA Jurug with the existing capacity is 100 L/second. In fact, PDAM Tirta Dharma only able to serve the water needs of Surakarta people at 78,61%. The low service coverage will be continued if there is no additional production capacity or distribution network optimization. The design is carried out by planning the uprating of the filtration, disinfection, and reservoir units by adding Jurug WTP capacity to 180 L/second according to the study of water needs.. Jurug WTP improvement is done by modifying the existing design of filtration, disinfection, and reservoir units to be more efficient and adding the new units so the uprating target is achieved. The planning will be conducted in two stages with the target water service for 20 years until 2038. In 2028, Jurug WTP is expected to be able to serve the needs of clean water about 83.61% and in 2038 about 88.61%.. It will certainly affect the filtration unit, disinfection and reservoir. If the flow of debit is increased, the three units can not process all of the raw water. And Jurug WTP will be redesigned by adding 4 units of filter with dimensions adapted from the modification existing unit that is 4 x 2 m, the replacement of the silica sand as filter media due to the particle size is too large and adding chlorine demand to 46,45 Kg/day. The cost of filtration, disinfection and reservoir redesign is about Rp. 2.500.000.00,00. text |
