Summary:<p align="justify">Spindle is an important machine tool component because it directly affects the resulting product. Spindle axis motion errors need to be measured because it is a part of a machine tool maintenance process. Spindle motion error measurement requires special equipment because the measured error is relatively small and involves a high rotational speed. This research was conducted to create a spindle motion measurement tool design in accordance with existing standard of spindle error measurement. The measurement system designed in this study consists of several components that are highly likely to have errors. The errors will overlap and need to be calculated to meet the design requirements. The designs in this study include sensor selection, sensor mounting design, artefact design, and design of data acquisition components. The desired accuracy is 1 micrometer with a measurement range of at least 100 micrometers. A design of spindle drive error measurement components has been made based on existing component information to meet design requirements. The design of the present study has also taken into consideration the measurement uncertainty estimates.<p align="justify">
