TUMOR CONTROL PROBABILITY (TCP) AND NORMAL TISSUE COMPLICATIONS PROBABILITY (NTCP) IN PRESENCE OF CELL BIOLOGICAL EFFECT

In radiotherapy, parameters required to see how well tumors are controlled and what percentage of normal tissue damage after therapy is to review tumor control probability (TCP) and normal tissue control probability (NTCP). TCP and NTCP rely on fractionation and cell biological effects such as repop...

TCP and NTCP rely on fractionation and cell biological effects such as repopulation, repair, redistribution and reoxygenation. It also depends on the statistical distribution model used. One model that can review the biological effects of cells is the Poisson model. In this study, we modified the Poisson model by considering the four biological effects of cells on TCP calculation and the effect of repair on NTCP calculation of head and neck cancers. The results for TCP show the difference about 4% with the Zaider Minerbo model and 11.18% with the EUD model. According to this model, the repair effect is the most dominant effect in reducing the TCP value. As for the NTCP value, it can decrease the value up to 8.16%. On the other hand, the addition of 1-2 fractions in this model can increase the TCP value by about 2.61% and NTCP 0.02%. text
