Summary: | Poliaspartat (PASP) is a water-soluble polymer and environmentally friendly, and it is also known to have inhibition of corrosion and scale. To improve the inhibition power of PASP , this research was carried out copolymerization of PASP with amino cysteine acid. Poly (aspartate-co-cysteine) is synthesized from a polysuccinimide (PSI) copolymerized with cysteine through reflux for 2 hours at 70 ° C. PSI and PASP-cysteine were characterized using IR showing typical peaks for PSI at 1717 cm-1 wave numbers (C = O on the imide ring bonds) and 1408 cm-1 (CN stretched vibrations), in PASP-cysteine showing the presence of SH at the wave numbers 2586 cm-1 and 1636 cm-1 showing vibrations at C = O at -COOH and the peaks at the 1717 cm-1 wave numbers have not indicated that the five-ring bond on the imide has been opened. The efficiency of corrosion inhibition is determined by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), polarization (Tafel) and weight loss methods. As for the efficiency of slag inhibition, the method of titration of complexometric to determine the concentration of calcium ions. PASP-cysteine testing as corrosion inhibitor by EIS method showed successive results at concentrations 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 ppm at 35 ° C was 51,05%; 68,99%; 76,1%; 79,27% and 79.86% respectively. Meanwhile, by polarization method (Tafel) showed the successive results at concentrations of 25, 75 and 125 ppm at 35 ° C was 79,41%; 89,66% and 89,34%. In Tafel testing, it can be stated that the PASP-cysteine compound is a mixed inhibitor. PASP-cysteine testing as a corrosion inhibitor with weight reduction method showed successive results at concentrations of 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 ppm was 23,89%; 38,84%; 36,84%; 51,77% and 15,84% respectively. PASP-cysteine testing as a scale inhibitor showed successive results at concentrations of 25, 50, 75 and 100 ppm was 50,12%; 60,14%; 80,17% and 90,18%. Testing has been performed that, poly (aspartate-co-cysteine) can be used as a corrosion inhibitor and scale inhibitor. |
