The choice of transport mode is an important models in public transport planning, this is because of the key role played by public transport in improving efficiency and effectiveness of movement system in a transportation system.</p> In intercity movement, the factors that influence modal choice, both involving characteristic of travellers and characteristic of mode, has to be studied well, in order that good public transportation system can be realized. The objectives of this study is to observe the behaviour of intercity public transport traveller in order to know factors that influence traveller in choosing mode, to get a modal choice model that can explain the probability of traveller in choosing public transport mode between rail and bus, and also to estimate the sensitivity of travellers in modal choice if the travel attributes are changed.</p> <br />
This study is carried out using stated preference method with involving 356 respondent and logit binomial model as modal choice model. The final modal choice model that resulted from analysis is: <br />

And the factors that considered are travel cost difference (XI), travel time difference (X2), headway difference (X3) and service difference (X4) between rail and bus.</p> <br />
Further more, according to sensitivity analysis, it is found that travel time was the most sensitive attribute that influence the probability of modal choice compared with the other attributes. |
