Summary: |
Tampomas Volcano is type B volcano, located in the east of Tangkuban Parahu Volcano. The research is conducted in this area to determine the geological conditions of the research area includes geomorphology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and geological history that are supported by petrogenesis studies. The research area is located at 821000-
831500 mE and 9245000-9257000 mN.
Methods used in this study consists of the analysis of satellite imagery and topographic maps as well as field observation to determine the geological conditions in the
study area. Field observation is conducted to determine the actual geological conditions of the study area and take rock samples. Petrographic analysis and geochemical analysis using XRF (X Ray Fluorescence) are used to determine magma conditions and tectonic environment of the study area.
Georphology of research area consists of six units, there are Lava Flow Ridge Unit, Volcano Foothills Unit, Pyroclastic Flow Ridge Unit, Lava Dome Unit, Lahar Flow
Ridge Unit, and Residual Volcano Hills Unit. Stratigraphy of study area consists of two khuluks of volcano and one unit of Tertiary sedimentary rock. Tampomas Khuluk consists of volcanic materials derived from Cibeureum Gumuk, Citimun Gumuk, Narimbang Gumuk, Cilangkap Gumuk, Sekarwangi Gumuk, Cibitung Gumuk, Cipamekar Gumuk, Paseh Gumuk, Bongkok Gumuk, and Jambu Gumuk. Khuluk deposits consist of lava flows deposits, pyroclastic fall deposit, and pyroclastic flows deposits. Tangkuban Parahu Khuluk only has one deposit, which is lahar. The geological structure that develops in research area consists of primary and secondary geological structures. Primary geological structures consists of columnar joints, sheeting joints, autobreccia, and parallel bedding.
Secondary geological structure is the result of the interpretation of lineaments pattern, regional geological structure, and profiles of satellite imagery. This structure is interpreted as a strike-slip normal fault. On the results of petrographic and geochemical analysis of
rocks, Tampomas Volcano has calc-alkaline magma series which is associated with tectonic environment of active continental margin. Magmatism processes of this volcano
consists of magma mixing, assimilation, and crystal fractionation.
|
