According to research by many organizations, people all over the world feel they do not have control over their own identity. In other publications, it is also stated that there is a willingness from identity owners to control and manage their own identities (known as self-sovereign identity, or SSI). Unfortunately, the number of distributed identity management system that enables SSI principle is low. Distributed Identity Management System (DIMS) is designed and developed as the blockchain-based solution to meet the self-sovereign identity concept. In essence, this system is focused on enabling identity attribute transactions between identity owners and relying parties. DIMS enable identity owners to control their own identity, which includes control of identity creation, control of identity update, and control of identity usage by relying parties. This can be done by using blockchain: a distributed database that is designed to be secure, in order to prevent identity theft, abuse, and forgery in an environment where parties have little to no trust to each other.

According to DIMS functionality test and blockchain simulation, the developed blockchainbased solution can be the answer to the self-sovereign identity problem. DIMS, according to user acceptance test, are well received and accepted by involved system actors.
text
