Description
Summary:
Food waste is a behavior that is often underestimated by humans. This behavior is very often found, even almost every human being in the world has ever thrown away food. Without realizing it, the effects of this food waste are very large. Methane produced by rotten food in landfills is 21 times more dangerous than CO2 in the air. In addition, if a quarter of the total food that has been disposed of can be utilized to the maximum extent possible, then the problem of hunger in the world can be overcome. One of the factors that lead to wasteful behavior of these foods is forgotten foods in the refrigerator until they have reached their expiration date.

This behavior can be minimized by utilizing technological developments and trends, one of which is the internet of things concept that is currently popular. In this final project, the design and development of a prototype device or device that will become a "smart" feature in conventional refrigerators by utilizing Raspberry Pi. This tool can read the name and expiration date of food and store it in the database. In addition, users can also see the list of foods they have and receive notifications when there are foods that will expire.
