DYNAMICS OF NIMBY MOVEMENT IN PLTSA GEDEBAGE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

NIMBY movement is a movement oriented to the rejection of a development in a region. Movement actors are generally local residents who reject a development in their area for various reasons. In the planning realm, this movement is often a problem that fails to be solved by the development executor, who in this case is generally the government. this study took a case study of the local community's resistance to the construction of PLTSa Gedebage. PLTSa Gedebage Development Plan is one of Bandung City Government's development project to solve the garbage problem in Bandung City. <br /> <br /> <br /> This thesis is the result of qualitative research which explains about NIMBY movement by local community on Gedebage PLTSa development plan. By using the method of content analysis of this study deepens the dynamics of NIMBY movement that occurs in the study area. The dynamics of the NIMBY movement under investigation are the forms, causes, impacts, actors, and processes. This research is supported by a conflict management approach to deepen interaction between actors, causes of conflict, and the needs and interests of each actor. <br /> <br /> <br /> This study resulted in anisilis that socialization became the beginning of the birth of NIMBY movement. The movement is getting stronger when the self-organizing community has a strong understanding of the adverse impacts of products planned by the government to be built. In the midst of the NIMBY movement process, other actors enter like outside communities of experts and the media, the entry of other actors that are not anticipated by the government adds strongly to allies of the local community to refuse government policy. The NIMBY movement in the study area is not anarchist and leaves behind bad actions like hunger strikes, and so on. The unique finding in this research is that NIMBY movement does not always come from the same voice of all local people, there is division within the local community even though the majority are the people who reject the development of PLTSa. <br /> <br /> <br /> Keywords: NIMBY Movement, Local Communities, Bandung City Government, Socialization, outside community, experts. <br /> <br />
