Summary: | Arbie Scientific is an independent coal laboratory which offers a sample preparation service and lab equipment for coal industry in Bandung. Recently, the demand for coal sample preparation has increased for the last 2 years. But the company is having a problem to maintain their customer base as they only have 48% repeat purchase rate in 2017. According to interview session with the owner, the main causes of this problem are low quality reports and late delivery time from the laboratory department. The data analysis which has been conducted shows that the company is having a difficulty to complete the reports on time even for a daily average number of samples. Based on the data, Arbie Scientifics needs to complete a minimum 7 samples a day before the work hour ends. <br />

The analysis is conducted by using Business Process Modeling and Notation (BPMN) diagram and Igrafx software as a tool to approach real process of reporting reports. The objective of this final project is to reduce the reporting process lead time and improving the general quality of the report by using automation process to minimize human errors. <br />

The analysis shows that there are four root causes for Arbie Scientifics low repeat purchase rate which are (1) no standard template; (2) unmonitored process; (3) limited resources; (4) office location is not strategic. This research has develop two business solutions which are simulation tools that can be used as monitoring tools as well as develop a better template to reduce the reporting time, and improving the preparation process to resolve its limited resource problem and eliminate human errors. |
