Description
Summary:The need for housing in Jakarta is increases due to population increase. Due to the lack of vacant land, the construction of apartment is one solution. Various facilities of the apartment are offered to attract prospective residents, one of them is the air conditioning system. An air conditioning system is important to satisfy the thermal comfort of apartment residents. The apartment air conditioning system must be well designed to benefit both developers and residents.

The good design of an air conditioning system concern to the energy and cost aspects. This design includes estimating cooling loads, selecting the appropriate machine, and calculating energy consumption. Life Cycle Cost analysis within ten years is done to determine the appropriate air conditioning system. Analysis of Life Cycle Cost for this air system includes equipment investment costs, operational costs, and maintenance costs.

The peak cooling load for the apartment section is estimated at 3030.9 kW (861.8 TR) and 1599.6 kW (454.8 TR) for the facility section. Based on the analysis, the appropriate air conditioning system for this apartment is a split wall system for the apartment section and VSD chiller systems for the facility section with average electricity consumption and Life Cycle Cost respectively 20135,15 kWh per day and Rp101.092.466.445,80; and amounting to 3691,82 kWh per day and Rp43.273.166.116,77.
