Description
Summary:Community Based Forest Management Certification from the Indonesian Ecolabeling Institute (LEI) is an effort to ensure the quality of production and the sustainability of private forest management. One important aspect of the success of private forest management is the suitability of land from private forest plants. This study aims to determine the composition and stand structure criteria based on the stand potential on open, medium and closed land cover according to LEI5000-3/14 standards, and determine the combination of agroforestry plants (main plants, multi purpose tree species (MPTS), and seasonal plants) most suitable for private forests based on the results of their land suitability. In this study, the determination of criteria (composition, stand structure and combination of agroforestry plants) is based on three land cover (open, medium, and closed) obtained from the interpretation of maps using ArcGis software. Potential stands are determined using vegetation analysis methods. Data analysis for stand composition and structure criteria uses LEI 5000-3 / 14 standard, while land suitability is done by matching between land quality criteria and land characteristics with plant growth requirements. The results showed that the composition and stand structure criteria for open, medium and closed land cover based on LEI 5000-3 / 14 standard was good. The most suitable combination for open land cover is umbrella tree and silk tree for main plants, jackfruit for MPTS plants, as well as bananas, peanuts, corn, taro, sweet potato, and cassava for seasonal plants. The most suitable combination for medium land cover is umbrella tree, silk tree, and white teak for main plants, castor bean, and coffee for MPTS plants, as well as bananas, ginger, and chillies for seasonal plants. While the most suitable combination for closed land cover is umbrella tree, silk tree, white teak, and largeleaf rosemallow for main plants, jackfruit and avocado for MPTS plants, cassava and taro for seasonal plants.
