Summary: | Biological treatment is one of effective treatment types in degrading organic compounds under the principle of utilizing micro-organisms to process complex compounds contained in effluent water into simpler compound, so that microorganisms have important roles in biological process. Bacteria that are used can be in form of non-indigenous bacteria of waste environment or indigenous bacteria.

Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify bacteria types within Biomembrane effluent (liquid waste treatment instrument in Cikacembang River) using

conventional method namely doing series of biochemistry tests and do the optimization of bacteria to the wastewater of Cikacembang River. Bacteria identification on Bio-membrane effluent is conducted because it is indicated that those bacteria have potencies to degrade wastes within river water. In addition, also tested the bacterial growth. Isolates which are obtained derived from three positive-gram bacteria in which two bacteria were categorized into genus Bacillus, and one bacterium was categorized into genus Corynebacterium. In this research,

it was successfully identified a species of the isolated bacteria, namely Bacillus megaterium that had growth rate of 139.28 mg/l/h, Bacillus licheniformis that had growth rate of 130.35 mg/l/h, and Corynebacterium striatum that had growth rate of 112.13 mg/l/h. And then, effectivity of consortium combination is based on ratio of dissolved COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and bacterial VSS (Volatile

Suspended Solids) as known as COD/VSSb ratio. The result showed that the optimum variation combination with the composition Bacillus megaterium : Bacillus licheniformis was 50% : 50%. The COD/VSSb ratio value in successive

of each application were 0.27.. The identified bacteria species after the composition test were 57.5% Bacillus megaterium and 42.5% Bacillus licheniformis. |
