Summary:Public transport’s accident has taken many victims in this country. Government has given notice for safety system of public transport. Safety system of public transport not only designed to decrease many victims, but also to minimize any parts broken. One of the ssafety system is addition impact modul absorber. PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) will develop passive safety sysem for railway called crashworthiness. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Impact modul absorber has many kinds mechanism for applications. In this research, external inversion has choosen for the impact modul mechanism. External inversion is invert mechanism of inside surface become outside surface from the tube, this mechanism can minimize the space for the modul. External inversion has fluctuative graph for early displacement that so harmful to absorb the energy, too small. The problem solve is additionala process called pre-invertion. Hopefully, that process can decrease the fluctuative graph also make the modul can absorb bigger energy. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The area of this research is laboratory research, but this specimen could scale up according to the needs. This research would compare about two specimen using pre-inverted process and without using it. Their characteristic’s graph from these specimens will be consideration. The result from impactor energy 2.697,75 J with specimens using pre-invertion absorbed 1.378,2 J, while specimen without pre-invertion with impactor energy 1.055,2617 J absorbed 486,0659 J. Ratio between impactor energy with absorbed energy, specimen using pre-invertion is 0,51, while specimen without pre-inevertion 0,461. Peak load for specimen using pre-invertion 78 kN, while specimen without pre-invertion 45 kN. Based from that, tube using pre-invertion could absorb bigger energy than without pre-invertion. <br /> <br />
