Summary: | Geothermal exploitation activities become one of the breakthroughs that can be used as alternative energy resources as a substitute for conventional energy resources. The source of energy generated from geothermal exploitation can be utilized as Geothermal Power Plant (GPP). In addition to exploitation activities, supervision activities in the field also need to be considered to maintain a comfortable, safe, and effective working environment.

One of the supervision that needs to be done is monitoring the stability of the rocks that are located around the geothermal reservoir. Such supervision needs to be done considering the physical and mechanical properties of the rocks that exist around the geothermal reservoir are different from similar rocks that are in lower temperatures. It can affect the stability of the wellbore and the stability of the surface which later allows for the construction of supporting facilities activities.
In this study, rock samples taken of andesite rock taken from Padalarang, West Bandung Regency. The existence of thermal influence on the rock makes the difference in physical and mechanical properties possessed by the rock. The thermal effect research on andesite rock samples will be performed by testing the mechanical properties of andesite rock samples in the form of uniaxial compressive strength values when samples are at room temperature (for reference), when heated to 200ºC, 400ºC, and 600ºC, and after heating at a temperature 200ºC, 400ºC, and 600ºC. the change of compressive strength values will be obtained from this test. |
