Description
Summary:Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is a method used to obtain more oil. CO2 injection is one of the EOR methods. CO2 injection is conducted by injecting some CO2 into the reservoir. CO2 injection can be conducted by miscible or immiscible injection.

Langgak Field is an oil field that has been producing since 1979 and its production continues to decline. The im immiscible CO2 injection as one of EOR methodwill be applied to increase oil production at Langgak. The phenomenon of oil swelling and viscosity reduction play a major fole in the process of CO2 immiscible injectionfor the success of the EOR method.

This research conducts oil swelling test and viscosity reduction test using Langgak oil sample. The experiments in this study were conducted at Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Laboratory, Sejong University, Korea. The oil swelling test and viscosity reduction test were performed at reservoir temperature with the highest CO2 injection pressure 900 psi.

The results of study, the CO2injection pressure at 900 psi give the biggest oil swelling factor and the biggest viscosity reduction. The result of oil swelling factor at CO2 injection pressure 900 psi is 1.0594. The oil viscosity decrease to 10,2 cp atCO2 injection pressure 900 psi.
