Description
Summary:Geomechanic is one of any other aspects that play an important role in drilling. It becomes the edge of the spear in drilling because the notification of geomechanical condition that existed before drilling could predict the wellbore stability problem, and then choose the right action as mitigation in drilling. Geomechanical solution to wellbore instability could reduce the non productive time, and reduce drilling cost.

Geomechanic can be defined as a theory and applied science from rock behavior in response to forces worked from surrounding environment. Hence, geomechanic can be applied in drilling engineering to predict important parameter such as pore pressure, fracture gradient, and becoming a solution to reduce risk which existed in wellbore.

This thesis is emphasized in Papua Island, which consumes drilling days around 73.5 days which delayed from 45 days of drilling in prognosis. This drilling trajectory is vertical, and at exploration stage, which is still lack of data related to geomechanic specifically in those areas. This is the reason why this wellbore area is selected in this thesis.

Aspects in drilling related to geomechanic will be marked specifically in the depth of interval which is indicated of wellbore instability.

After the indication is found then the type of wellbore instability based on that indication is stated. The goals of this thesis is to achieved design in mud density, design of casing setting depth, hydraulic, besides prevention and mitigation plan in future well, so it can be the lesson learned for practitioner and academic lecturer of drilling engineering.
