Getting high oil recovery can be done by Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method. One of those methods is surfactant injection. Problems occurred when vertical well is implemented at thin reservoir. The problem usually related to sweeping and drainage area that become smaller so the value of recovery factor is decreased. Handling those problems is used horizontal well. It hopes to increase oil recovery from reservoir. The economics of the surfactant injection project is considered because it needs a lot of expense.

Reservoir model that is used in this paper was built by use of petroleum simulator Eclipse which is set in black oil fluid mode. This simulation was created with 4 spot surfactant injection system using horizontal wells. Some surfactant performance optimizations were carried out with committing sensitivity toward some parameters, such as surfactant concentration, rate injection, time of injection, and volume of surfactant injection. The results of each optimization would be implemented in every different area reservoir models. The project economics would be estimated in every optimization results and the results is NPV for each of those different areas. The result of simulations and project estimations show that surfactant injection can bring bigger oil recovery than water injection. The economics of those project also indicates positive NPV in some reservoir area. text
