Despite Indonesia is a country with abundant of energy source, but nowadays, Indonesia is faced with the scarcity of oil. Higher gap between production and consumption from time to time force Indonesia to do another strategy relates to oil usage. In production segment, many enhanced oil recovery method need to run in order to increase recovery factor. One of the most popular EOR method is Surfactant Flooding. However, surfactant injection is an expensive method thus design criteria must be careful examined.
In this research, surfactant injection will be optimized using imbibisi spontan method. Spontaneous imbibition process is a displacement process of a non-wetting fluid using a wetting fluid spontaneously. The force which enhance the imbibition process is capillary and gravity force. Surfactant is used to help injection fluid to wet the rock and expel oil.
One of the rock property that is being modified is effective permeability. In some area, the effective permeability is a small value, while the others segments is big value. Theoritically, spontaneous imbibition process will happen in small value permeability so oil which is trapped in small pores can be driven to larger pores and be produced as well.
The purpose of this research is to capture spontaneous imbibition process in a reservoir and to determine the most effective surfactant injection design. The model is a synthetic reservoir model that is one-quarter of five spot injection pattern and will be run using commercial simuator. Spontaneous imbibition analysis is being done with giving variation soaking time while observing recovery factor value. After best recovery factor from soaking time achieved, production optimization is continued by searching the best design using surfactant combined with water injection. |
