Summary: |
The need for fossil fuel as the primary source of energy continues to rise with time. To meet the rising demand, a wide range of technological innovation have been proposed with the intention to introduce renewable energy as a viable alternative for fossil fuel. Electric Vehicles are one of those inventions. This Final Project analyses the performance of the multiphase cascade boost and buck converter that can be used as the primary DC – DC converter of an electric vehicle, which functions as a voltage regulator. First, the equations for input current ripple, non-ideal gain, and losses are derived. Then, the input current ripple and the input inductor current is observed. Meanwhile, the gain of the converter is investigated for some duty cycles. On the other hand, the efficiency of the converter is also tested. Finally, the input current ripple, the non-ideal gain, and the efficiency of the converter is compared to the calculations.
|
