Summary: |
The threat of Indonesia's forest biodiversity can increase environmental damage. Environmental damage is caused by two factors, namely natural and human factors. Natural factors are caused by prolonged drought or extreme weather, lightning strikes, erupting volcanoes that cause forests at the foot of the mountain to be damaged, earthquakes and tsunamis. Human factors are caused by illegal logging, forest encroachment, conversion into planting land or industrial project area.
To improve forest management due to such threats, complete, reliable and up-to-date information is required. Such information is obtained from the installation of a forest monitoring system to enable officers to monitor through conservation centers. The system can be a camera trap system that will be used to obtain data and information for the identification of forest species activities.

Camera trap system to be developed is named Jagat: Camera Trap System and Wireless Data Collection. This system is equipped with a trap subsystem that detect objects in the work area. Later, the trap will send the trigger data to the camera subsystem so that images and video objects can be retrieved. This camera subsystem is also equipped with flash to help lighting the object at night. In addition, there are also environmental sensors that will get the temperature and forest humidity. Once in a while, officers will bring a communications subsystem that will retrieve data automatically from the camera subsystem. The data will be analyzed by the image processing subsystem to remove data with no fauna. This data can also be viewed through the Android app to facilitate officers in forest monitoring. In the Jagat system, data transfer runs smoothly and flash along with buzzer lights up and sounds according to the condition of the system in progress. The camera in Camera Trap can also take pictures and videos of detected trap objects. For data retrieval with Wireless Data Collector, it is assumed that WiFi network for data transmission to LSKK server and WiFi network for data retrieval from Camera Trap is not around Wireless Data Collector simultaneously. In addition, data transfer is assumed to run smoothly (not stopped abruptly or interrupted).
