Summary:Hamburg Shelf Ocean Model’s (HAMSOM’s) velocity component and salinity which has been simulated baroclinicly with the influence of tides, atmospheric component and river discharge will be used to analyze water dynamic and salinity variability in the Bangka Strait for the year 2013 and 2014. <br /> <br /> Monthy averaged current in Bangka Strait have the tendency to moves correspondingly with the south east and north west season’s moonsun wind at 0,2 m/sec and 0,13m/sec. In the trantition period (usually arround March to May and September to November) where the seasonal wind is weakening, tide is the dominant aspect to influence current thus form a convergent current inside Bangka Strait. This monthly current makes a seasonal current pattern. <br /> <br /> Current convergence in the Bangka Strait started from the southern part of the strait during the first transition season (March – May) and started from the northern part of the strait during the second transition season (September – November). In this second transition season, the convergence cannot be seen under the depth of 7,5 m, the current tends to move from the north to the south. <br /> <br /> The period spectrum of the change of river discharge is compared to the change of current velocity. Based on the similiarity, the total influence of Banyuasin, Musi and Batang River is at the highest around the area near Banyuasin River and at the lowest at the middle of the strait which is relatively far from rivers.
